
Now we traced back to the 14th century, the Hinduism was first introduced dokar on the island of Bali. At the time the horse and carts were also used as the primary mode of transportation for royalty and their family members, the citizens had to make do by traveling around the island on foot.
Some centuries later the Dutch occupied this island, they brought some western design elements were gradually influenced the original design. Nowadays, many dokar are still decorated with the old fashioned bling bling decorations on the horse and carts.
During the 1950’s the dokar was the very important transport in Bali. At that time they were the main public transportation to distribution of the island’s business goods. It still used in some traditional flea market places, despite car have replaced dokar.
